Good Bye Geri!
The news was met around the world with shock and disbelief.On May 31,Geri Halliwell announced to the world that she had left the Spice Girls.
Even the cynics,who have been predicting the 'Spiceys' demise ever since that began two years ago,were suprised at the sudden exit of "the voice" behind girl power.And the four remaining European concerts
in Oslo,Norway,as a four piece.
Eventually,Ginger couldn't take the attacks about her poor performance All along, the fans were made to believe that the Spice Girls were the best of chumbs and that nothing would tear them apart.But, ever since the sacking of the 'Spice Girls' manager, Simon Fuller(now manager of Danish pop duo S.O.A.P.) late last year,
the arguments and insult especially between Geri,Mel B and Emma had been coming thicker and faster.
Eventually, Ginger couldn't the attacks about her poor performance and yoyoing wieght problem any longer, and decided it was better for her sanity to quit and kiss goodbye the millions of dollars she would make from the US tour.
The friction that had been simmering between the Spice Girls reached boiling point last year December, when it was discovered that Emma was pashing they're manager, Simon Fuller. Geri and Mel B decided to sack him on the spot- a move the rest of them apperantly agreed to. This was, in reality, the beginning of theire down ward spiral. In hind sight, if another manager
had stepped in to take over the managerial role, the vicios squabbles maybe could have been kept at bay.
However, Geri took it upon herself to be the bands spocked person, and within months, resentment of her self-appointed position, especially from Scary,Scary was bubbling over.
" Mel B and Geri both have very strong personalitys". said one "informant" ."It's not that any wrong decisions were made by Geri, it was just that it was always going to end rows if she was going to try to tell Mel B and the others what to do"
Althought on the surface it appeared that the girls really did love eachother and choose to spend theire every minute in each others company, the deep-seated truth is that agruments between the terrible trio were becoming more and more malicios.
Even one year earlier, during theire trip to Indoesia, they're squabbling had become fraught wih disagreements. A colleague, who flew to the archipelao to individually interview all the girls, ending up speaking with Emma over the phone. Apparently, Emma refused to go downstairs to talk to the inerview instead on inernal telephone from her Hotel room.
Mel C and Victoria usually managed to avoid most of the arguments, trying theire best to stay piece-keepers.But eventually, the squabbling got more than they could carry. acorrding to one "insider", Mel B's humiliating verbal attacks on Geri regulary made the redhead break down into tears."Mel B really laid into poor old Geri in front of everyone", said the girls former chauffeur."she
screamed 'come on Geri get it together.' then after another blast from Scary, she ran into a trail of tears...You can't disagree with Mel B, because it makes things worse and she gets hysterical.
Geri had no other way out of her unhappy dilemma than to bow out. Farewell,buddy.we'll miss you Geri.
